Singapore Wing Chun Academy was founded by Instructor Raymond after being certified and authorised by Sifu Johnny Song to be the first overseas training school out of Guangzhou. It is the only school in Singapore which teaches the Yuen Kay San / Sum Nung Wing Chun system. Instructor Raymond is the first of the two close disciples of Sifu Johnny Song to date. He has travelled to Guangzhou to train intensively under Sifu Johnny regularly for few years before being authorised to represent him under his lineage. He had often met up with Sifus and practitioners from over the world visiting Singapore to learn and exchange skills and knowledge with them. Instructor Raymond had represented Singapore in various international Wushu competitions in various traditional & contemporary Chinese martial arts and has owned another school Xin Yi Wushu Academy focusing on the training of contemporary Wushu. Wing Chun is a realistic street fight martial art; not a Chi Sao nor tournament art. Therefore, emphasis is placed on combat training so as to enable students to use their Wing Chun skills acquired to deal with realistic street fight situations whenever the need arises. We DO NOT train students to fight “tournament styles” or “spar with classroom scenarios”. Students are trained to close the gap using lightning fast footwork to engage in Close Range Combat as what the art was designed for. During the process, students are trained to build their confidence, have the guts to face up to hostility and take charge of the situations in order to end the fight within seconds. Back to basics, simplicity and effectiveness is our motto. No complicated nor fanciful Chi Sao drills commonly seen in the social media these days. We DO NOT incorporate any other arts techniques or concepts into our syllabus. Wing Chun remain simple and pure the way our grand masters did.

In the Sum Nung Wing Chun System, hip torsion power, internal energy, spiral movements, structures, centreline and domineering demeanor(no mercy,no recovery)are the core principles in our combat training. We do not waste time doing warm ups nor engage in physical strength and stamina development. Instead, lots of emphasis are placed on building strong foundation over these principles right from the very first day. Every single technique and its application is explained in detail with respect to the core concepts so as to drill the structures, movements and concepts into one's second nature.

Students who had diligently completed the program shall have both techniques and concepts embodied onto his movements as instinctive reactions during applications.
Singapore Wing Chun Academy welcomes anyone with or without martial arts background to come try our system of training. Anyone looking at learning realistic self defense against genuine street situations will find this school the right place to train in. |
